Dr Catherine NOYER-RIVEAU, RI Director 2008-2010 first female member of the Board is organising, like each Director, during her term of office an Institute.

It will take place from 4 to 6 December 2009 at the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche, Hotel & Conférence Center,  17, boulevard Saint Jacques 75014 Paris for zones 11, 12, 13, 14, 18B and 19, which corresponds to 66 Rotary districts, representing 25 European countries in the main.

As usual, the Institute will be preceded by:

  • on 2 and 3 December the Governors Elected Training Seminar (GETS) which will take place at the Méridien – Etoile  : 81, Boulevard  Gouvion-Saint-Cyr 75017 - PARIS.

  • And, in the morning of 4 December, the Foundation Seminar open to all the zones and a Regional Workforce Seminar currently reserved to zone 11, at the Marriott.

The following parties will be in attendance:

  • For Rotary International :

Its 2009-2010 Chairman, John Kenny, the past 1999-2000 Chairman Carlo Ravizza and a certain number of current Directors including  the RID  Ekkehart Pandel, co-convener of the Institute.

  • For the Rotary Foundation :

One of its Trustees Samuel A. Okudzeto and perhaps its treasurer the Past Chairman in 2005-2006, Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar and Ms Andrezza Zeitune, former bursar in the Peace centres, currently working for UNESCO.

But also personalities from outside such as the Director General of the Pasteur Institute, Mme Alice Dautry, Director in charge of the initiative to eradicate Polio at W.H.O., Dr. Bruce Aylward and Professor. Arnold Munich, geneticist, Advisor to the French Presidency.


In order to enhance the chances of successful exchanges during thisInstitute, instead of organising workshops by language, the themestackled by the participants in plenary sessions will be followed inmost cases by debates with the room in the form of questions/answersand will feature simultaneous translation in four languages (German,English, French, Italian) scheduled for the plenary sessions.

The main themes chosen for this day will be: Polio Plus – Health and Famine – Water and the Legislation Council – but also a certain number of topical issues concerning our organisation, such as the Rotary and sustainable development or the Rotary and peace.
For these subjects we also hope to welcome a member of the Government in charge of Sustainable Development and or Health and a former bursar of the Foundation currently employed by the OECD.


Finally, a plenary session with questions/answers, with the RI International Chairman, John Kenny and the current managers, present atthe Institute, is scheduled.
