A Director’s responsibilities during office includes the organisation of either a Zone conference or an Institute. We were truly delighted to welcome you all, even though this represented a hugechallenge - Europe includes the zones 11, 12,13, 14, 18 and 19, covering 66districts in more than 25 countries.
In addition, to respect the majority of cultures represented and to help communication we chose to provide live translation in 4 languages, English, German, French and Italian.
We could never have completed this project without the help of a dedicated team that worked for between 18 months and 2 years.
Without them nothing could have been achieved, but without you, the participants and the speakers in this Paris 2009 Institute, some of whom came from countries as far away as Hungary, Turkey, the Gabon and Israel, everything would have been in vain. Thank you for your participation, your inputs and your friendship.
Our thanks to President John Kenny and his wife June for making themselves available. Thanks also to Rotary Foundation Director Sam Okudzeto and his wife Priscilla for their participation and commitment.
To put it succinctly, you were all fantastic!!!
I hope you will keep excellent memories of the time we spent together and I look forward to seeing you in Hanover for the 2010 Institute, invited by its convener Ekkehart Pandel, Rotary International Director 2009-2011.
Thank you again and with my very best wishes
